Congregations are increasingly investing in urn cemeteries, because the number of coffin tombs can no longer grow indefinitely. Ecologically speaking, cremation is a viable alternative. The selection of the urn is also important for the environment.
The lokta paper urns and felted wool coated urns and coffins designed by Riitta Reinilä-Strömmer are ecological, uniquely beautiful and affordable. They are quickly decomposed and do not contain toxic additives or other materials or metallic substances. The products are carefully manufactured observing sustainable development and fair trade principles. The manufacturing process does not overload the environment and no child labour is used in the production. The workers enjoy good working conditions and they receive a fair salary.
The urns undergo a test in which they are mechanically filled at the Honkanummi Crematorium, in the presence of representatives from the Congregational Environmental Management and Crematorium Foundation. Our urns comply with the EU environmental quality standards and meet the recommendations of the Crematorium Foundation set for urns. The sturdy, durable and easily transportable lokta paper and felt urns are also suitable for scattering ashes in nature, since the urn can be finally burnt safely in your fireplace, for example.
The urns are available in different sizes:
- adult and child urns
- urns and coffins for premature born children and babies
- pet urns
